Team Science to Improve Human Health
In Cole Field House’s state-of-the-art sports research center, clinicians and academics will use “team science” to push the boundaries of their disciplines, improving the health and performance of people of all ages.
The Center for Sports Medicine, Health and Human Performance will capitalize on the university’s strengths in science, engineering, public health and medicine for an interdisciplinary approach to sports medicine and occupational health. Here, experts in neuroscience, imaging technology, bioengineering, kinesiology, orthopedics and other disciplines will ADVANCE THE DISCOVERY OF INNOVATIVE DIAGNOSTICS AND TREATMENTS for our elite athletes as well as the larger community.
A unique partnership between the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, the center will benefit from a superior location in one of THE WORLD’S TOP RESEARCH CORRIDORS to create a national program in sports medicine education, investigation and clinical care. Scientists and clinicians from both institutions, including experts in nutrition, exercise and training, for example, will develop progressive approaches to identify novel risk factors, response profiles and treatments for head injury.
